Shiatsu An Alternative Healing

Shiatsu is a manual therapy of Japanese origin. Here we explain its historical and philosophical base, effects and the way of implementation.

Hara shiatsu
More than a simple massage, Shiatsu joins the therapeutic capacity of the Chinese medicine with the warmth and touch connection. Induces a deep relaxation, and balance the vital energy.

By its practitioners Shiatsu is both a body and a path toward the growth of mind, body and spirit. Combines a refined intuition, knowledge of the eastern diagnosis, posture and breathing. The unique quality of Shiatsu is its emphasis on the effectiveness of the body movement and the perception of your physical and spiritual center.

The Chinese medicine and Shiatsu is based on the Taoist point of view, by which the disease is a situation of the individual in that it is located outside of the dynamic and ever-changing outside of the harmonious nature balance.

A shiatsu session
Shiatsu techniques incorporate stretching, mobilizations and the application of pressure in several parts of the body of the receiver, to encourage greater harmony energy, circulation, flexibility and postural integrity. Many of the techniques are applied to the same system of energy channels and points used in acupuncture.

The posture and the attention of the professional have their basis in the abdomen (the Hara).  Shiatsu is normally given on a futon that is placed on the ground.

The goal of Shiatsu
The goal of Shiatsu is to enhance the processes of self-healing and personal growth through the balance of the flow of  body vital energy known in eastern medicine as Qi, the well-being of the person as a unity of body, mind and spirit depends on the harmonious flow of this energy.

The Shiatsu increases self-awareness and sensitivity and relieves tension. Also power and nourishes the vital force. Applied by a professional with appropriate training, Shiatsu power the well-being and can be used as a method of preventive health care.

You can also help people who are going through crisis, difficult phases in the life and processes of change. You can treat people with a wide range of physical conditions.

Effects on the health
Research shows that the symptoms of the receivers are reduced significantly and maintained over the 6 months of the investigation.

A study conducted by the University of Leeds in the UK made a research over the experience and effects of Shiatsu in 2007 year and the result of this was that between 84% and 87% of users said that the Shiatsu had been effective in the treatment of their symptoms. All information submitted by users showed improvements in regard to tension or stress, problems with joints and muscles, back pain, low energy and digestive disorders, respiratory or blood pressure.

The Shiatsu can also increase the self-consciousness of the receivers, favoring a greater self-care. More than 90% of the regular users of the Shiatsu said that had helped them to maintain their health. Both receivers as the usual expressed a greater awareness of themselves and a greater ability to help each other, or more internal contact with their own emotions.

After only 3 months before the commencement of the Shiatsu treatment, both users, new and traditional, expressed a "greater confidence that my problems can be solved".
